next
okay, so drama didn't work out. i wasn't sure if i'd like it or not but i wanted to at least try it. next in line is the writing club, which i am almost positive i will like since, well, i love to write. my friend kendra wants me to be in it with her, since i sort of told her i would a while ago, as long as she started it and she did. the good thing about it is that they don't meet every freakin' day and when they do meet, it's during lunch (i think). fun stuff.

marcus is a beast
today during lunch these upperclassmen came over to my lunch table and asked me if i wanted to be in a pudding-eating contest. i passed but my friend marcus decided to be in it... well it was him and james, john and some kid i don't know. they had to be the first one to eat two pudding cups without utensils or hands. and marcus won...it was great. people were standing around cheering. you should have seen it.

an ad
i am quite an idiot. i was thinking to maybe write an ad as today's journal entry, for people to visit my site. then it dawned on me that in order to read this ad, people would actually have to already be at my site. this being the case, the purpose of the advertisement would be completely defeated. i do not like this, sad i am. i do not like green eggs and ham.

randomality
my softball team is now 6-0. go fillies. yay.
jonathan is a deprived, soccer-playing, lemon-hating liar. don't ask.
i think i'm going to quit drama.
chocolate cake and time alone don't mix well.

jingle bells, jingle bells
wow. as most of you know, my birthday is the day after christmas. being that today is the 26 of september (also my cousin simone's birthday-- happy birthday, simone!), there are only three short months before i turn 15. how amazing. (yay.) i feel so old.

the way i am
actually, it's the way slim shady is. yesterday i heard a song by my dear friend1, eminem. it's called "the way i am" and i actually like it. i think i do anyway. let it be known though, that i am still anti-eminem. people can make mistakes and actually come out with an okay song once in a while. i still think "without me" is the song from hell.

m-o-n-d-a-y s-u-c-k-s
sing it with me now. ugh. i had a headache and i could hardly talk this morning 'cause my throat hurt so much. =( i didn't remember to pack a lunch until 30 seconds before my bus came so i grabbed a pack of crackers and that was my lunch. oh and i couldn't remember if my mom was going to pick me up or if i was supposed to take the bus home, so about five minutes before school let out i was running around trying to find the courtesy phone to call her. (we don't have payphones.) that was a bit stressful.

ah, this is the life
people have begun campaigning for class officers. you know what that means? free candy for bribes. =) yay. actually a few of my friends are running for office so i got to help pass the candy out in first and second blocks. that was fun because people were joking, being phony-nice in order to get more candy: "oh devon, i looove your earings." =)

*sigh*
another retraction. that's two in one night. my ratings are definitely going to go down for this. i will not be keeping a point system. there are certain readers (singular) who object to my enforcing one. *cough* matthew *cough*

oops. would you call it a retraction?
i just remembered i wore a dress to graduation. but if you don't count that time, it's been a really long while.

wow. to the third power.
first wow ~> i went shopping today and it wasn't a horrible experience for once. (i normally hate shopping.)
second wow ~> i bought a homecoming dress...and i like it.
third wow ~> i realized today that i haven't worn a dress (skirts don't count) for years.

fo' yo' info
i will be enforcing a point system from now on...as long as i can figure out where to put it. maybe it will look nice on the black column to the right. yes, i think that will do. eventually, i will get around to posting it.

two questions
a) i am supposed to give an informative speech in firc class (don't ask) sometime soon. the topic is supposed to be something meaningful, that i care about. any suggestions?
b) what's up with billabong? i have nothing against it, i guess, except that everyone is wearing shirts and hats with the logo on them. and they all carry backpacks with the logo on them. and i don't understand it.

tengo doler
not playing softball for a month, and then starting back is not a habit my muscles seem to like. i was in pain all day today, and yesterday.

so it didn't help that
we did the electric slide in math class today. haha, i'm serious. our teacher was trying to demonstrate translations and rotations on a quadratic plane...so she had us all move the desks and stand in the middle of the room. then she told us to "move positive 4 units on the x-axis" then -4 on the x-axis, -3 on the y-axis, +2 on the x, -2 on the x, +1 on the x, 90 degree turn counter-clockwise, repeat. she had the whole class dancing. it was so great. (sorry to any dancers if i've messed up the steps.)

cryonics vs. death
you're wondering what cryonics is. well, according to the aol merriam webster's dictionary, cryonics is "the practice of freezing a dead diseased human in hopes of restoring life at some future time when a cure for the disease has been developed."

well i was conversing with jonathan, and this topic came up (don't ask). i am going to "waste" this post on telling you why i don't believe in cryonics. first of all, what's so wrong with dying? i mean, really. secondly, what if your cure wasn't developed until like forever after you actually died? then you'd outlive your grandchildren or great grandchildren1 and that's just...well, wrong. (in my opinion2.) what do you think3?

1why are they so great and grand anyways?

2fact

3not that i care4.

4this is just to be hypocritical. =)

au contraire
paul thinks i am going to write about how i don't like him using all the footnotes he does. well i'm not. hehe. but i am going to write about him. if you've read his journal lately, you know that he was bragging on his busy schedule. what the heck. this is my schedule (aside from classes):

Mondays- drama club, choir practice
Tuesdays- piano lesson
Wednesdays- drama club
Thursdays- drama club
Fridays- drama club
Saturdays- when i do all my homework lol
Sundays- church, sunday school, softball

Sunday, September 15

mmm
chocolate cake.

darn
crumbs.

guess what
marcus and i were born on the same day1.

1yes, this is completely irrelevant2.

2but isn't everything?

ick ouch ugh
softball, three hours, wind, rain. bad combo, don't you think? yeah, me too.

boring biology
we have already done two labs in science class and the second write-up is due tomorrow. i loathe science.

ah, english
we had a niftyful socratic seminar in class on thursday about a book we had to read over the summer (the good one, not the stupid, boring one). it was so cool how we just talked for forty-five minutes, without teacher interference, about themes and opinions and-- i love english. =)

Friday, September 13

i'm a guy
well, not really, but i play one in drama. i get to be romeo in that shakespeare play about romeo...you know the one, and he has that girlfriend or wife or something named juliet? i can't recall what it's titled. anyway, derek is juliet, so this should be interesting...

fridays are sweet
on fridays, i have all eight classes, only shortened. so the day goes by really quickly and it's fun. and i got to hang out in the black box today during lunch. i forgot how to make a superscript so i can't make a footnote like i wanted...so i'll tell ya what the black box is now. it's this room that has black walls and nifty lighting that my school does lots of drama performances in. oh, and if anyone gets really tired of me talking about drama, just let me know. but you have to be really really tired of it. (and i'll try not to talk about it all the time.)

Thursday, September 12

guess what
i'm tired.

yo tengo un crap-load de tarea.
g'night.

Wednesday, September 11

i am curious
guess who joined the drama club. devon did. the people are hilarious and pretty nice so i figure since it's one area of art i don't have much experience in, why not give it a shot? we are going to perform a few brief shakespeare plays at our school's fall festival. these plays tend to be funny because of their condensed form. also, there is a type of "improv season" where we perform in the black box theatre during lunch on fridays. that should be interesting. then there are a series of "one acts" which are one-act plays. we will also prepare a spring play, and possibly a musical. i have so much to look forward to. what fun.

Sunday, September 8

it's been too long
i will take part of this journal entry to apologize for not writing in (...um let's see...8 minus 4 is 4...) four days. i have been busy doing homework, babysitting (seven hours is quite a long time), cleaning and shopping, going to church, and practicing piano and softball. i seriously doubt i will have time to write for this journal once a day, or even more than three times a week, but i will do my best to keep those of you who actually read this entertained. *gets a calculater* i think that's about three people.

yay. aww.
yay --> i finished, "the book of ruth" by jane hamilton.
aww --> what a sad/scary/horrible ending.
but i liked the book.

intangible hide-and-seek
i have, without exaggeration, ten books lined up to read, not counting school-assigned books. where will i ever find the time? i bet you it's hiding behind my lack of sleep. time, my preciousssss... heh.

Wednesday, September 4

hectic, but fun
wow. yesterday, i had to go to the bathroom since before lunch, and didn't end up going until after i got home. one, i didn't have time in between classes, and two, there are three floors to my school and i can only find one bathroom. (there are more though...so i've been told...)

Y-E-S-*what would be an exclamation point, except that i don't usually get that excited*
i am finally organized. i love being organized. it makes me feel efficient. also, i have gotten my locker open. if coolness smelled, i'd stink. =) heh.

stupid bus ride
do the people on my bus really have nothing better to do than to yell profanities? i seriously want to shout, "okay, i'm glad you know the word! now shut up!" if you notice, i used exclamation marks in that. and i don't do that (unless i'm being sarcastic, usually).

Monday, September 2

i have a life-- sorta.
this was a fun weekend, filled with pillow fights, laughter, movies, and people. i wish every weekend could be like that, heh.

dah!
school starts tomorrow.
